Whenever I feel the need for an internal reset, I know it’s time for me to prepare for a fast.


Detoxing and cleansing is how I prepare myself mentally, spiritually and even emotionally as the physical aspect is not the biggest hurdle for me in this area.


However, if you ever find yourself having a bigger struggle in either of these departments, this post is dedicated to you, as I’ll share more about my personal process and practice for detoxing, cleansing and fasting.





My daily routine for detoxing, cleansing and fasting that I have incorporated as a practice is that of a daily intermittent fasting schedule, where I don’t have any solid food after 6pm in the evening and not until after 12 noon the next day.

At first it took some getting used to as I was so accustomed to eating late, since I’m more of a night owl by nature.


Something about having a crunchy snack as I would stay up and work on the computer, the salt and the crunch keeps me alert - even more so than coffee (which I’ll discuss in an upcoming post about how I went about cutting back on caffeine and how much of a tremendous impact it’s made on my mental and physical state).








DETOXING - Detoxing for me is setting a clean slate with my eating, therefore, I’ll only eat fresh and raw foods so that I don’t spend too much time trying to cook and using things like salt and oil, as I’m intentionally removing those type of food items from my nutritional plan.



CLEANSING - Cleansing for me, is more of a consistent flow of maintaining optimal hydration in my system by increasing my hydrating fruits, vegetables and chlorophyll water and hot lemon water/tea throughout the day.



FASTING - Fasting for me is more spiritual than physical ( or food-based ) ; however, when you think about the time you spend “pursuing food” you’ll see how much time could be dedicated towards other areas of your life that could use the influx of energy for growth.



My fasting routine, I go on a 3-day (once per month) water and hot tea fast only. Sometimes I’ll do a fresh fruit juice or fresh vegetable juice only. By fresh I mean, I make my fresh juices single serving and ingest the fresh juice immediately.

When I start off my week (I consider Sunday as the start of my new week) I begin with a lovely #celeryjuice detox + cleanse.


I use:

4 stalks of organic celery

1 whole lime ( peeled and added into the blender )

Add filtered water / ice to your liking

Blend on HIGH twice ( or three times ), in order to get that juice feel (I enjoy the pulp for the added benefits and fiber)


( I squeeze some additional fresh lime juice to give it more of a little kick! )


I have this as my first beverage in the morning (before my usual hot lemon 🍋 water or decaf coffee )
